With more than 550 species of birds The Gambia is a twitcher's paradise with one of the largest concentrations of bird species per square mile in the world.

The resorts on the Atlantic coast allow for exciting waterskiing, windsurfing and surfing in the ocean's rollers. But if you prefer something a little less adrenalin fuelled, sailing is possible at The Gambia Sailing Club at Banjul where as a visitor you'd be more than welcome. A notable event is the race to Dog Island and additional regattas are organised on special occasions.

Both sea and river fishing is good all year round, particularly line-fishing from the beaches. But if you fancy something a little more challenging, several sport-fishing boats are available to take you out on deep-sea angling trips.
