Aghia Marina lies just a few kilometres from Chania and boasts a golden sandy beach with plentiful watersports, beach bars and small tavernas It's named after the church which is located on the small hill of the old village. It's a lively resort if lacking a little Cretan atmosphere. The road which passes right in the center of Agia Marina is busy but the situation has improved since the national road has been extended and is being used as a bypass. The attractive part of the village located on a hill behind the main resort still retains some old world charm.
