This popular resort lies just 5 km from Rhodes Town and faces a long expanse of part-sand, part-pebble beach. There's a relaxed feel, with most people spending the day settled on the beach and experiencing the fine selection of watersports on offer. The main coastal road flanking the waterside is where most of Ixia's shops and tavernas are concentrated, and you'll find some excellent restaurants here too. After dark the atmosphere stays outgoing and lively, with a terrific variety of music bars, cafes and nightspots giving the whole place a cosmopolitan feel. Ixia is a great base for exploring the countryside and other towns on the island. Rhodes Town is around a ten minute bus or taxi ride away.
