Master the ocean in the Dominican Republic

If you think you can master the waves and become a surfing champion then the Dominican Republic is the place to be this February.
From February 27th until February 28th 2008, qualifiers will take place at Cabarete Bay on the north shore of the Dominican Republic for the Master of the Ocean 2008 competition.
In order to qualify for the event, participants will have to compete against each other in the categories of surfing, windsurfing and kiteboarding on the chopping ocean waves.
The top 16 from the qualifying rounds will then compete in the finals to be held at Playa Encuentro and Bozo Beach Cabarete later that month.
Currently, the dates are set for February 29th, March 1st and March 2nd 2008, however a reserve date has been set for March 3rd, when a media presence will also be in attendance.
The competition was established in order to discover the world's "best overall watersport athlete".
