travel news - Lapland Cabins Provide Romantic Winter Holiday
Lapland cabins provide romantic winter holiday
January 21 2008
A cosy cabin in Lapland has been named by the Guardian as one of the top places to make a romantic escape to this winter.
Writer Marian Keyes described her stay as "delightful", adding that there are many activities on offer for cold weather enthusiasts in Finland.
In particular, she highlighted an evening snowmobile trip to view the spectacular northern lights, as well as husky-sledging through the forest and riding through the scenic forests in a sleigh pulled by reindeer.
Ms Keyes also added that some package holidays to the region include one night in a glass igloo, which she described as "great fun" for stargazers looking for a unique evening.
Active travellers are sure to find an activity that appeals to them, as Finnish Lapland boasts a number of snow-based sports including cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
To escape from the cold weather, arctic-experience.co.uk reports that saunas are popular in both hotels and private cabins, with many also offering a range of spa services.
According to the Guardian, there are still last-minute deals available for people seeking a winter getaway to Lapland, with departures scheduled until April this year.
