travel news - Mexico Is "hotspot" For Romantic Winter Break
Mexico is "hotspot" for romantic winter break
January 28 2008
Amorous couples looking for the perfect destination to which to escape this winter in order to pop the question may be interested to know that Mexico has been listed as a romantic "hotspot".
According to Travelzoo, one of the five most romantic ways in which to propose to a love one is on the beach at sunset - and it lists Mexico as a "great" destination in which to get down on one knee.
Other locations listed as best for beach romance included the Caribbean and Hawaii, with Travelzoo noting that all-inclusive beach package holidays are a good way in which to reduce the pressures that come with such an occasion.
"The number of marriage proposals always spikes around the holidays with Valentine's Day being the most popular," Travelzoo.com's Gabe Saglie commented.
He added that proposals taking place on a specially planned holidays are on the increase.
Those who do not find beaches a romantic place in which to propose marriage can also consider popping the question from a high destination with a breathtaking view, next to a fireplace at a cosy ski lodge, or on a city break.
The Association of Independent Tour Operators recently reported that city breaks are the "old favourites" among Brits taking romantic holidays this Valentine's Day.
