travel news - "Book In Advance" For Family Breaks In School Hols
"Book in advance" for family breaks in school hols
February 14 2008
Britons have been advised to book in plenty of time if they want to take overseas trips during the school holidays.
The advice comes from Thomas Cook, who notes that Easter is a good opportunity for families to take advantage of the four days off.
Last year, Travel Counsellors reported that the average amount spent on holidays had increased from £1,533 in 2006 to £2,376.
"Being Easter and that the kids are off school, [we] always advise [holidaymakers] to book in advance to ensure people get the destination and dates they want," a spokesperson commented.
She noted that "many" Britons take advantage of the extra days off school to head off on a three to four-day city break.
Meanwhile, families can make the most of children being out of school and head abroad for early summer sun.
