travel news - Greece To Host Gourmet Food Fest
Greece to host gourmet food fest
February 22 2008
Following a successful event last year, the Sani Gourmet Food Festival 2008 is set to take place again in Greece this May.
Featuring a collection of distinguished, Michelin-starred chefs from Mediterranean countries, the festivities are supported by other cultural events such as wine tasting in Greek vineyards.
The gourmet food festival will take place in Halkidiki, Greece from May 17th until May 24th 2008 and will showcase chefs from Germany, France, Cyprus, Greece, Morocco, Turkey, the USA and Japan.
"Each chef will devise a specially created menu of five or six courses paired with different wines at each of the participating restaurants," the organisers note.
So far, confirmed chefs include Chysanthos Karamolegos, a local chef who offers dishes of a "unique, yet Greek" origin, Heinz Winkler who became the world's youngest chef to be awarded three-Michelin stars from Germany and Alain Lorca, a Spanish-born chef working on the French Riviera
Other chefs include Greek chef Christoforos Peskias and Cypriot cook Andreas Mavromatis.
