February 27 2008
Portugal is a popular destination for older Britons of retirement age, it has been revealed.
According to ShelterOffshore.com, many holidaymakers travelling to the region even opt for purchasing a second home there.
The news comes after NatWest International Personal Banking released its Quality of Life Report which revealed that the desire for a better way of life was one of the main reasons to leave the UK.
"Portugal is a popular destination with what are known as 'lifestyle buyers' or 'lifestyle consumers'. What this means is that Portugal is more popular with those seeking a home, second home or retirement property abroad," Rhiannon Williamson, director of ShelterOffshore.com noted.
According to ShelterOffshore.com, Portugal is a very popular choice with retirees searching for a better quality, lower cost of living.
Reasons given for a Portugal's popularity climate, the people, landscape, wildlife, cuisine, safety and lack of terrorism threat as well as low crime rates.
