travel news - Brits 'head For The Sun' This Easter
Brits 'head for the sun' this Easter
March 20 2008
UK residents are packing their bags and heading for the sun in their droves this Easter, it has been reported.
According to the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta), roughly two million Britons are set to leave the UK in search of sunshine this Easter.
Abta also notes that the Canary Islands - especially Tenerife - are set to be the most popular destination this spring.
Other popular destinations include Barbados, Cuba and Mexico.
"The early Easter has given our customers the extra option of heading to the slopes as well as topping up their tans, and the extended peak period has also seen a flattening out of prices," Justin Fleming Abta president said.
In addition to air travel and ferry travel, 70,000 Britons are set to leave the country via the Eurostar.
Port of Dover recently reported that ferry travel offers holidaymakers "freedom and flexibility".
