travel news - Tourists Travel To Turkey For Nip And Tuck Treatments
Tourists travel to Turkey for nip and tuck treatments
March 26 2008
An increasing number of Britons are travelling to Turkey and other countries to take up offers of medical treatments and surgery, it has been reported.
According to Post Office, "health tourism" is an industry that is growing by roughly 30 per cent each year, Brits head for seaside destinations to undergo treatment at a lower cost before recuperating in the sunshine.
However, although some holidaymakers are saving between 20 and 50 per cent on operations such as cosmetic dentistry, heart surgery, hip replacements and breast augmentations, a third fail to check that they are adequately covered by their travel insurance.
Helen Warburton, head of Post Office travel services, says: "It's vital that anyone considering this looks into buying additional specialist cover. This will provide peace of mind should anything go wrong."
Top destinations for sunshine surgery include India, Hungary, Turkey, Malaysia and Spain.
