travel news - Overseas Festivals 'cheaper Than UK'
Overseas festivals 'cheaper than UK'
March 27 2008
It might be cheaper for music lovers to travel overseas for festivals than to remain in the UK, it has been suggested.
According to the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta), ticket prices are often lower and easier to get hold of abroad.
Additionally, there is the added benefit of warmer weather and less mud and wellies at an overseas festival in Tenerife for example.
WOMAD is one such festival which takes place annually on the Canary Islands, as well as in New Zealand and Australia.
"With flights to Europe being at an all-time low, the savings you can make on the ticket costs will usually pay for the cost of your flight and your food and drinks whilst you are at the festival," commented Sean Tipton, spokesperson for Abta.
He added that "savvy" music fans were beginning to cotton on to the overseas festival concept.
