travel news - Kenya Is "filmmaker's Paradise"
Kenya is "filmmaker's paradise"
April 24 2008
Kenya has been described as a "filmmaker's paradise" and in terms of nature it is an "ideal" location.
According to Business Daily Nairobi, Kenya has much to offer holidaymakers and filmmakers from sandy deserts to the "fantastic" scenery around Mount Kenya.
Wildlife can also be found in abundance at the game parks of Tsavo, Samburu and Meru, the publication notes.
"From the time of Out of Africa with Meryl Streep and Robert Redford, Kenya has been a filmmaker's paradise for a natural, ideal and exotic location. Kenya has it all," Hans Van Schooneveld, managing director of Afro Cine Tourism, commented.
Also, Kenya is cheaper to shoot films in than other African countries, it is claimed. Films that have been shot in Kenya include Mogambo, Hatari and King Solomon's Mines. Also, attention was drawn to Kenya following the release of the film Out of Africa, which won an Oscar.
Cine Tourism combines filmmaking and support for the Kenya tourism industry.
