travel news - Green Activities On Holidays In Croatia
Green activities on holidays in Croatia
April 28 2008
A new visitor centre has opened in Croatia that is aimed at tourists enjoying a spot of cycling on their breaks.
The Kopacki Rit Nature Park in Croatia is located near the Drava and Danube rivers and offers stunning views to "cyclotourists", TravelMole reports.
The new tourist initiative is as a result of cooperation between Kopacki Rit and the Croatian office of the German Technical Cooperation Company and stage two of a three-phases programme has just been completed with its construction.
Phase one included the setting up of tourist signage and information desks which supply holidaymakers with maps and brochures.
The third phase will include creating "ecocounters" to monitor the cyclists passing through the Danube route.
Additional services could include restaurants, inns and bike-service facilities.
Croatia stretches from the Alps in the north-west to the Pannonian lowlands and the River Danube in the east. It was named number one Hot Adventure Destination by National Geographic Adventure in 2006.
