travel news - Brits Spend Over £2k On Family Holidays
Brits spend over £2k on family holidays
April 30 2008
UK consumers spend an average £2,190 per year on family holidays, new research has revealed.
And according to the Co-operative Bank, these are only two out of a total of 72 outings that children are treated to annually by their parents.
Research from the company reveals that these two yearly holidays are top of the list of activities that families spend the most money enjoying in the holidays - more so than trips to restaurants, swimming pools or the cinema.
Scott McPhail, savings manager at the Co-operative Bank, said: "We would like to stress to families that it is never too late to start putting some savings provisions in place to ensure that the cost of keeping the kids happy during school holidays doesn't result in...out-of-pocket parents."
Post Office recently revealed that those heading abroad on a budget this year may wish to consider several shorter city breaks instead of the traditional for fortnight-long holiday.
