travel news - German Squad To Prepare For Euros In Majorca
German squad to prepare for Euros in Majorca
May 15 2008
The German football team will prepare for their Euro 2008 challenge with a ten-day training camp on the Balearic island of Majorca.
Coach Joachim Loew will name his squad for this summer's championships - which are taking place in Austria and Switzerland throughout June - tomorrow (May 16th) and will take the lucky 23 players who are picked to a training camp on the sunny isle next week.
Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack is expected to be in the final squad but will not immediately fly to Majorca due to his involvement in the Champions League final against Manchester United next Wednesday (May 21st).
Other players expected to visit the island with the squad are Bayern Munich's Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski and Real Madrid's Christoph Metzelder.
Ballack said of the team's chances: "If we lose one or two important players it would be difficult for us to compensate.
"We don't have the depth in our squad of teams like (world champions) Italy or France."
