travel news - Maldivian Holidays 'are Like Robinson Crusoe Dream'
Maldivian holidays 'are like Robinson Crusoe dream'
July 15 2008
One publication has waxed lyrical about holidays in the Maldives, comparing them to a reverie likely to have been had by the well-known dreamer Robinson Crusoe.
Indeed, according to Best Syndication, the Maldives are "the stuff of dreams": Green and white islands, water that changes between turquoise and crystal clear and fine warm sand.
The publication also claims that the Maldives are the "perfect" holiday destination for honeymooners.
"This is strictly for the lotus-eater, the pleasure-seeker, the beach-bum who wants to do nothing more tiring than eat, float on a calm sea and sleep," it notes.
Activities those enjoying holidays in the Maldives can become a part of include swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, deep sea diving and wind surfing.
The independent recently noted that in a bid to reduce the region's £90 million budget shortfall, the government of the Maldives plans to open up 31 uninhabited Maldivian islands to tourism.
The Maldives are made up of more than a thousand islets of which only 250 are inhabited.
