travel news - Month Of Poetry In Mexico
Month of poetry in Mexico
July 25 2008
This autumn, Britons taking flights to Mexico for their holidays can look forward to culture as well as sunshine and sandy beaches.
Visit Mexico has announced that the San Luis Potosi Poetry Festival is to take place throughout the month of September.
The international Poetry Festival will feature the works of such wordsmiths as Alvaro Mutis, Juan Gelman, Agusto de Campos, Raul Zurita, David Huerta Decio Pignatari and Tomas Segovia.
Based throughout the four areas of San Luis Potosi, the festival will include lectures, readings and conferences all led by respected international poets.
September is a busy month in terms of culture in Mexico with the 13th International Mariachi and Charro Festival set to take place in Guadalajara, Jalisco.
This festival seeks to celebrate the traditional mariachi music in what Visit Mexico claims is the "mariachi capital of the world".
International musicians and artists and performers from Mexico will gather for this event from September 1st - 11th 2008.
