Tenerife - a paraglider's paradise?
July 28 2008
Paragliding fans could be soon swooping in on the popular destination of Tenerife as the resort becomes a popular activity holiday hotspot.
The south of the beautiful island boasts a stunning and ideal landscape for those looking for holidays that involve more than two weeks lying on a beach. As well as paragliding, tourists can enjoy a wide range of activities including hill walking, windsurfing and rock climbing.
Tenerife also boasts a number of top-class golfing courses for those who have packed their clubs and a vibrant nightlife in the key areas of Puerto de la Cruz, Las Americas, Santa Cruz and La Laguna.
Opting for a tandem paraglide could be the perfect way to get a unique view of the volcanic island and there as many as six different popular paragliding routes on offer so plenty of opportunities to get some stunning holidays snaps.
Julia Bradbury, a holiday correspondent for the Daily Telegraph, explained: "As a passenger in a tandem jump, all you have to do after take-off is sit back, relax and enjoy the views."
A recent report from Tenerife News revealed that the holiday hotspot remains a firm favourite with tourists as visitor numbers continue to soar ahead of last year's figures with a 21.7 per cent increase in May compared to 2007 levels.
