travel news - Millions Book Holidays In Advance
Millions book holidays in advance
August 29 2008
Millions of holidaymakers are already planning their 2009 break, according to new research.
A study carried out by TNS revealed that over five million consumers plan to book their 2009 holiday before December.
The poll suggested that people are booking their holidays in advance in order to save money and allow plenty of budgeting time.
Commenting on the findings, Tom Costley, head of travel and tourism at TNS, said that the news was very "reassuring" for the travel industry and indicated that despite the credit crunch, people were still keen to travel.
"There seems to be resilience among large sections of the population that holidays are of sufficient importance that it is worth planning ahead for 2009, despite economic uncertainty," he explained.
The study revealed that a quarter of people are currently scouring brochures and browsing the web in search of good holiday deals.
Meanwhile, a recent study by the Post Office revealed that sales of euro currency have increased over the last year, suggesting that holiday destinations such as Majorca, Portugal and Tenerife are as popular as ever.
