travel news - Dubai Eagerly Awaits Arrival Of The QE2
Dubai eagerly awaits arrival of the QE2
November 18 2008
The developer in charge of managing the future of the QE2 is preparing in earnest for the ship's eagerly awaited arrival.
Nakheel, the Dubai-based developer in charge told gulfnews.com that it will be making significant investments in the liner to ensure that it endures as "a beacon of sophistication for generations to come".
Manfred Ursprunger, the executive in charge of the QE2's transformation into a floating hotel said: "QE2 has always been synonymous with luxury, elegance and exclusivity, and these are the characteristics that we are taking as the inspiration for her future."
The ship set sail from Southampton on her final voyage last week and is set to arrive in Dubai on November 26th.
There she will enjoy a welcome no less dramatic then her sending off, as a flotilla of local yachts and pleasure boats, led by a Royal Navy Frigate, will sail out to meet her, TravelMole reports.
