travel news - Film Festival Brings Romance To Florida
Film festival brings romance to Florida
November 25 2008
Honeymooning couples looking for a romantic Valentine's Day getaway could be in for a treat if they head to Florida, where the Romance in a Can film festival will add to the usual attractions of year-round sun and sandy beaches.
The festival, which takes place in Miami between February 6th and 15th, is entirely given over to romantic films and will feature new works by European and local directors.
Juliette Binoche, Derek Jacobi and Julie Delpy all feature in films that are being premiered at the event, which will also feature a special tribute to legendary Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski and a romance-themed short film competition.
Isabelle Landman, executive director of Red Chemistry, the non-profit making body which organises the festival, said: "Bringing something uplifting and refreshing, classy and glamorous - a program of comedies and artsy feature films from so many countries - should draw a very diverse audience in the very romantic town of Miami."
It was announced earlier this week that the fourth Women's International Film Festival will be running concurrently in Miami next February, which could add an extra touch of glamour to Florida honeymoons next Valentine's Day.
