travel news - New Tourism Board To Boost Bulgaria
New tourism board to boost Bulgaria
November 28 2008
Bulgaria, already popular holiday destination with UK tourists both in summer and winter, may find its tourism numbers boosted after the new State Public Consultative Commission on Tourism met with the government for the first time yesterday.
The commission, which includes representatives from NGOs as well as the tourism industry, has said that it will begin a new European marketing campaign, Radio Bulgaria reported.
Deputy Prime Minister Ivaylo Kalfin, who is the chair of the Commission on Tourism, said his commission were seeking to promote lesser-known attractions of the country.
He told Radio Bulgaria: "Bulgaria is second in the world in abundance of mineral springs after Iceland. Besides, we have also our history, ethnography, and cultural heritage, wines and religion to be proud of."
According to the Sofia Echo, the new commission includes several high-level cabinet ministers including the interior minister and the transport minister.
